AMBEDKAR JAYANTI 2026 - A TRIBUTE TO BABA SAHEB DR. B. R. AMBEDKAR
Ambedkar Jayanti 2026, the day which is of utter importance to each and every Indian is just around the corner. Ambedkar Jayanti 2026 is a tribute to the “Father of the Indian Constitution,” Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and marks his birth anniversary. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was not only a great jurist, economist but also a visionary and the architect of the foundation stone of India’ democracy which is our Constitution.
Ambedkar Jayanti 2026 will be observed on Tuesday, the 14th of April, 2026 as a way to honour the great leader Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Ambedkar Jayanti is a public holiday in all Government organisations, schools, colleges, banks and many private companies and it marks the 135th birth year of Dr. Ambedkar.
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was born in Mhow which is now in Madhya Pradesh on 14th April in 1891. He was from a very humble family background. He came from an underprivileged community as per the societal set up and still rose to become one of the biggest names in Indian History.
He had faced discrimination as he was from a marginalized community which was the blow that pushed him to take on hurdle of the caste system and advocate for equality. Although he had barriers and hurdles, he was very good academically and went to study at Institutions like Columbia University and the London School of Economics. His intellectual capabilities in unison with his perseverance made him become the strongest advocate and voice of the oppressed.
He dedicated his lifetime to uplift the less privileged and led from the front. He fought for the rights of Dalits and advocated the power of education which was the step to empowerment. He not only was leader and activist, but a thinker and a visionary and have the shape to today’s India, and thus observing Ambedkar Jayanti 2026 is a priviledge for all of us.
One of the most appealing contributions of Dr. Ambedkar is his part in drafting the Constitution of India. He was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee and made sure that no one is left out, justice and equality prevail, liberty is advocated and also fraternity.
The Indian Constitution which came into action in 1950, is the Bible of the Republic India and ensures fundamental rights to all citizens, irrespective of caste, religion or gender. Ambedkar had envisioned a just and inclusive society and laid the foundation for India as the biggest Democratic and Progressive Country.
He firmly believed that political democracy should be in unison with social and economic democracy for the Nation to be truly democratic and Independent. His thoughts, papers and work are still the guiding light for India’s legal, democratic and political blueprint and he will always remain at the centre of it.
Dr. Ambedkar’s philosophy was rooted in equality, rationality and human dignity. Some of his core values include:
1. Equality and Social Justice
He worked relentlessly and opposed caste-based discrimination and stood up for equal rights for all. It was his efforts that led to the abolition of untouchability and the introduction of corrective policies.
2. Education as Empowerment
“Educate, Agitate, Organize.” were his views on education as empowerment in order to break away from the barriers of oppression and upliftment of SC, ST and Backward castes.
3. Constitutional Morality
He advocated the need for respect for constitutional principles over orthodox rituals. He believed that laws and institutions were necessary for a balanced society.
4. Gender Equality
He always stood up for women’s rights and worked for reforming Hindu personal laws so that equality for women could be achieved.
