PAUSHA PUTRADA EKADASHI 2025

As per ancient Hindu tales and legends, there once lived a virtuous king whose name was Suketuman and his wife the queen was named Shaibya. Despite being virtuous and devoted to dharma, the royal couple remained childless for many years. They were under extreme distress as thwt wanted an heir and thus they sought guidance from the Rishis.
A great Rishi Muni or sage advised them to observe the Pausha Putrada Ekadashi with eternal dedication to Lord Vishnu. As per the Rishi Muni’s instructions and guidance the king and queen observed the Ekadashi fast with dedication, faith, prayers and abstinence. Bhagwan Vishnu was very happy with their dedication and blessed with both hands. Lord Vishnu blessed them with a noble and righteous son.

1. Preparations start a day before on Dashami
Devotees and those observing the fast start preparing for the fast a day before Ekadashi by eating light, vegetarian, sattvic food. Grains, onions, garlic and oily spicy foods are avoided in order to maintain purity of body and mind.
2. Ekadashi Vrat or Fast
On the day of Pausha Putrada Ekadashi 2025, devotees should wake up really early and take a holy bath preferably in Holy Ganga. Then they should take a vow (Sankalp) to observe the fast. The fast can be of these types:
Grains and beans are strictly avoided on this Ekadashi day.
3. Puja of Lord Vishnu and Maa Lakshmi
Devotees worship Lord Vishnu or Lord Krishna and Mata Lakshmi on this day with flowers, agarbatti (incense sticks), diyas or small earthen lamps and Tulsi or Holy Basil leaves. Reciting and Chanting Vishnu Sahasranama, “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya”, and reading the Ekadashi Katha are considered highly auspicious and are believed to yield the best results.
4. Jagrata or Night Vigil
Many devotees stay awake whole night, sing bhajans, listening to religious discourses and meditate and recite Lord Vishnu and Mata Lakshmi Shloks.
5. Parana (Breaking the Fast)
The fast is broken on Dwadashi which is the twelfth day of lunar calendar i.e. the twelfth day. During the auspicious Parana time it is advised to consume sattvic food and fruits and offering charity to the needy is considered specially auspicious.
Even those who are not seeking to have children or who already have been blessed with children may also observe this Ekadashi for prosperity, success, mental peace and spiritual purification.
The real question this time is: 30 ya 31 kab hai Ekadashi. Pausha Putrada Ekadashi will be observed on tuesday the 30th of December, 2025 as per the Hindu lunar calendar.
Ekadashi Tithi will begin at 07:50 am on 30th December, 2025.
Ekadashi Tithi will end at 05:00 pm on 31st December, 2025.
