1. Cleansing and other Preparation

• Do get up really early in the morning atleast 2 hours before Puja Muhurat.
• Wearing yellow or white clothes is considered auspicious
• After cleaning the place of worship, put a yellow cloth on the chauki.

2. Placing Maa Saraswati idol

• Place an idol or picture of Maa Saraswati .
• Make sure the face of the idol faces east or north direction.
• Sprinkle Ganga Jal over the idol or portrait
• Bring books, copies or notebooks, slate, chalk, pens and pencils, sketch pens and musical instruments before Maa.

3. Ahvahan or Invitation to Maa

• Diya or small earthen lamps and agarbatti or incense sticks and dhoop batti should be lighted in front of Maa.
• Recite Maa Saraswati’s mantra “Om Aim Saraswatyai Namah” and read Saraswati Chalisa.

4. Offer Prasad, Flowers and Haldi etc.

• Yellow flowers or marigold or white flowers whichever is available
• Fruits especially ber and sweets (especially boondi or kesar peda or kesar kheer)
