Valentine’s Day traces back to the famous Saint Valentine who was a Christian martyr from the thirs century of Rome. The age-old famous saga says that the ruler at that time, Emperor Claudius II had banned marriages for young men as he was of the belief that unmarried single men became better soldiers. Saint Valentine was in protest against this order and went against this order by secretly performing marriages for the people who were in love and wanted to marry.
When the Emperor came to know about this decision and ways of St. Valentine he was first sent to jail and afterwards he was executed on 14 February. From then on, people of that time and then beyond, have been believing that just before his execution, Saint Valentine left a handwritten note for then Prison Jailor’s Daughter. It is believed that the jailor’s daughter and Saint had become friends during his stay at the prison.
Saint Valentine has written to his friend: “From your Valentine.” This line eventually became immortal for anyone who wanted to show their heart’s emotions and feelings.
