KALASHTAMI MAY 2026 ON 09TH MAY 2026- THE DAY OF THE FIERCE AND PROTECTOR ROOP OF MAHADEV
Kalashtami May 2026 is a very significant festival of Hinduism of which Kaal Bhairav is the revered God. Kal Bhairav is said to be the most ferocious and shielding Avatar of Bhagwan Shiv. On the eighth day or Ashtami of the Krishna Paksha every month, Kalashtami May 2026 is celebrated and is said to be very effective for removing fear, negative energy, barriers and Doshas.

The night-time worship of Kala Bhairava is considered highly auspicious because Bhairava is related to safety, protection and midnight hours.
Kalashtami is said to be very advantageous for:
“Kala” and “Ashtami” translate to time and the eighth day as per moon placement respectively. Kaal Bhairav is believed to be the guardian or the protector of time and Dharma. It is said that Bhagwan Bhairava removes arrogance, ignorance, anxiousness, indecisiveness and fear of the unknown who shows the right path to his devotees.
A Hindu tale says that Kaal Bhairava was born from Bhagwan Shiv’s divine energy to punish ego and bring back cosmic stability Thus praying with sincerity on this day brings positivity and safeguards from bad omen and energies.
For those indulging in tantric and Shaivic rituals, special midnight rituals, bhajans and processions are held in honor of Kala Bhairav in mandirs. Feeding black dogs on this day is advised, as the dog is considered the Vahana of Kala Bhairava and it brings blessings and reduces Doshas.
