Nautapa 2026 is a very remarkable and searing climate conditions in the very sacred religion of Hinduism. This period is significant not only as it speaks about the intense heat weather conditions but also hols much religious and spiritual significance. Nautapa 2026 rings in the peak summer heat all through the beautiful country of India. The word “Nautapa” is derived from the word “Nau” which means 9 in Hindi and “Tapa” means very hot or burning thus representing nine extremely hot days.

As per Hindu Panchang, Nautapa begins when the Sun enters the Rohini Nakshatra (a lunar constellation associated with Taurus and starts the time of intense solar radiation and scorching heat.
During these nine days, the Sun is believed to remain in a position nearest to planet Earth in terms of heat impact, leading to severe heatwaves, loo and intense temperature.
Nautapa is not just a climatic occurrence but has deep religious and agricultural significance in Indian tradition.
These nine days are the hottest period of the solar and lunar year. The heat of the sun is the most intense and it is extremely hot. This period is often seen as a natural “heat test” and also in a way unveils about the arrival of monsoon.
Rituals show that the intensity of heat during Nautapa is linked to the upcoming monsoon. A strong, hot Nautapa is often associated with good monsoon season.
As per Hinduism, Nautapa is a time devoted to Surya Puja. Devotees are of the belief that Surya Arghya helps in achieving prosperity,success, good health and positivity.
Nautapa is especially significant in maintaining environmental balance. The intense heating of land and air helps create pressure differences that eventually contribute to the ascent of monsoon .
To stay healthy and spiritually aligned during this extreme heat period, certain practices are recommended:
Begin your day by offering water (Arghya) to the rising Sun. This is said to decrease and negate the effect of negative energies and increase the blessings of Sun’s positivity.
Drink plenty of water, coconut water, buttermilk, lassi, ganne ka ras and natural fluids. Hydration is essential to prevent heatstroke and fatigue.
Donating water, earthen pots, umbrellas, fans, seasonal fruits to invite auspiciousness.
Prefer seasonal fruits, vegetables, less spicy and light meals. Cooling foods like cucumber, watermelon, muskmelon and curd are especially beneficial.
Keep water bowls outside for birds and animals. Helping others during this time is believed to increase good karma.
Certain precautions should be followed to avoid health issues and negative effects:
Try not to go out during peak afternoon hours (12 PM to 4 PM), when heat is most intense.
Oily, spicy and heavy foods increase body heat and can lead to discomfort.
Minimize intake of caffeine or anything that dehydrates the body.
Physical overwork in extreme heat can lead to exhaustion, dizziness, or heatstroke.
Do not ignore animals and birds and make sure they have access to clean drinking water.
